The Superbus project
The Superbus, the development project for a high-speed people mover of the future, is making further international progress. Lantor has participated in this project as material supplier. After presentation of the Superbus on the IAA Expo in Hannover end 2010 (see here, including some nice pics), the Bus is now going to Dubai for the UITP Show and conference (April 10-13, 2011), see here and here Local authorities in Dubai are showing great interest in using this concept. Superbus comprises many innovations in one, pushing the envelope for mass transit solutions of the future. This new concept for people transport includes new solutions for infrastructure, light weight (aerospace) design and technology and sustainable energy use. SORIC is very well represented in various parts of this bus, including in Seats (Prepregs with SORIC TF2), the Floor (SORICXF3 ), Front- and rear end (SORIC TF2 ), and both Interior and Exterior Body panels (SORIC TF2 ). Again SORIC is the material of choise to achieve both weight saving and optimum processing – SORIC is found to be the optimal thin, flexible core solution for lean composite laminates as used in Transportation and Automotive applications.
